I created a piece of type in Illustrator and added some shadowing in Photoshop. When I import a saved png, jpg or tiff into InDesign, it's totally rastered. Any suggestions?

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?

»I created a piece of type in Illustrator and added some shadowing in Photoshop.«

How did you insert the ai-content in psd?

Shape Layer? Then vector output is possible via pdf or svg for example.

Smart Object? Then it is not vector data within the containing psd and there is no vector output.

Again: How did you insert the ai-content in psd?

What settings did you choose to export the pdf?

You are aware that you are viewing the pdf ar 200% so obviously the image is magnified.

»When I import a saved png, jpg or tiff into InDesign«

Those are all pixel formats.
