Can't open a file I was working on: "This is not a valid PDF document"

Hey everyone, thanks in advance for the help. I make combination traditional/digital collaged artwork. I scanned in one of my drawings as a PDF and opened in Photoshop, then started to work on top of it. I saved the file, and I suppose something went wrong with the saving, because I can no longer open the file anymore (neither in Photoshop nor in Acrobat). It's a little odd, I recall saving as a PSD (my preferred working format) but I guess at some point I mistakenly over-wrote it as a PDF, maybe...?

I tried to reset my preferences as seems to be the main recommendation for this error. The full error is "This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document. It cannot be opened." Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

In order to minimize the loss I would try to import instead of opening
