Can't uncheck Transfer setting on Eraser (Photoshop CS6)

the title pretty much says it all.

It appears to uncheck, but the moment I use the Eraser it turns it back on automatically.

Most likely you have Override Opacity enabled in the tool options for the Eraser Tool.
