Can't use Flame Filter

I am trying to use the flame filter for an effect but I can't get it to work for some reason I have my graphics processor set on ( 980ti ) and I checked in advanced that openCL was enabled and I have restarted it after that but it's still grayed out after creating a path. I am doing it on a new layer and it is definitely a path and also I have completed the path. I had an older version of CC on my PC before I upgraded to an ssd and now I can't get it to work anymore on the latest version and I really need it.

Seems like I got it to work by creating a stroke from the path and now I can use the filter... no idea how that worked but that's very weird.

I'm having trouble with rendering fame. I checked and am convinced that I am doing it right, my preference setting is right but I receive this error message: "Error: Graphics intialization error: HRESULT error. The specified dev!" Any idea what the issue is?

Can you tell us what exact version of Photoshop and operating system you have, sounds like it could be an issue with your GPU, check to make sure that Photoshop detects your GPU and that OpenCL is enabled.

In Photoshop go to Help > System Info, hit the copy button and paste the entire thing into this thread

Photoshop version 21.2.2 has issues detecting some old and not so old GPU's, your card was released in 2012, the only option you have is to revert back to version 21.1.3
