Can't use photoshop after updating to Big Sur

I updated my mac to Big Sur, updated Photoshop to the latest release, but everytime I try to open PS, either by selecting a photo and choosing to edit in PS, or opening photoshop and selecting create new, I get the 'Could not complete your request because of a program error'. I have uninstalled PS and reinstalled it to no avail. Please help.
