Can some answer this question????

Never had a problem saving a file before, just did some work on in Photoshop trying to save my work as a jpeg?

But it will only save as a PSD file?

Have I done something I'm unaware of which is causing this to happen?

More than one layer? Lab Color? Post the Layers panel and full specifications so that we can help you.

The JPEG file format only supports 8 bits/color and no layers. So if your image has layers and/or is in 16 bits or 32 bits color, you can't save it in JPEG. How Photoshop handles this depends on the version. Earlier versions of Photoshop would simply not show JPEG as an option. Newer versions of Photoshop will still show it as an option, but will warn you that you can only save a 'flattened' (no layers) 8 bits/color copy, not the original.

Yes, If one of the reasons we listed is part of your file, jpg is not an option.

Psd is a logical choice.

Switch to 8 bit, RGB mode, whichever it is not a current spec.

If the problem is several layers. Save as psd so the layers are preserved, then flatten the file and save as jpg version.

Hi if you need to save a jpg from a high bit file (16 or 32) just duplicate the file, flatten it and in case, bring it to 8 bit.

This is the quicker workaround.

Cheers,

Martin

The color profile has nothing to do with it, except that you should not use an extremely wide color profile such as ProPhotoRGB, because that needs 16 bits/color in order not to result in banding of gradients.

For what purpose do you need the JPEG? If it's for the web or for an online print, then use sRGB.
