Clone Stamp tool works but stays in "Aligned" mode.

Clone Stamp tool works but stays in "Aligned" mode.  Un-checking the "Aligned" box has no effect.  Have the most current version of Photoshop, have recet the Clone Stamp and Brushes tools, have reloaded most curent version of PS, have re-booted computer, and nothing seems to change the problem.  Any suggestions?

Deleting PS (again) and re-loading current version fixed the problem.
