For months I have tried and tried to figure out why when I select a blue from the pallet or put in a blue HEX it always turns out looking purple. It doesn't matter if I'm using CMYK or RGB, the color does not render correctly in the file. The color selection blocks in both the toolbar and the color window show as correct. Does anyone have any knowledge?

Color management is essential. Which color profile are you using?
Also did you color calibrate your display?

And along with the color space of the file, can you post screenshots of your color picker?
