for some reason when I try to choose a color it comes always in grey, how can I fix this???

In the tab for the document window, what color mode does it say at the end after the filename? Does it say RGB/8, Gray/8, or something else?

I agree with Conrad, probably if you want to colorize your document you have to convert the color mode to rgb color or similar.

Otherwise check if you are working on a particular level of the document and so on.

It's possible that you have a mask selected while you are trying to sample a colour. Masks only support shades of grey.

I was scanning b/w negatives, I noticed under Imaga- mode it was set as grayscale and I had to change it to RBG color...my problem was resolved
