Copy Pasting From Illustrator to Photoshop

Hi, I am using 25.2.1 version of illustrator and 22.3.0 Photoshop. 

Every time I try and copy a pattern from illustrator to photoshop the system hangs for 100-120 secs and then the below message comes. It gets very incovinient to export the pattern in png and use.

"Could not complete the Paste command because the clipboard data is empty or invalid."

Can anyone please suggest a solution to this. Help!
