Couldn’t open the edit log file About

When I open Photoshop CC 2017 on my Mac this window comes up:

Couldn’t open the edit log file About. Edit logging is disabled. Use the get info command in the finder to ensure the file is unlocked and you have permission to access the file. If the problem persists, save the document to a different file or duplicated in the finder.

How do fix this?

It's not really, it's a dead link from the old forums. They all resolve to that page now. More than a few people have expressed frustration with it. There are several questions about this from the past few months, but none of them seem to be getting any replies. If the info below doesn't help, start a new thread.

You can view the thread on Wayback Machine though, here: Error message upon opening Photoshop - "edit logging is disabled"

Basically,

  1. Have you, your OS, antivirus(, etc) moved folders or their contents around prior to this error?
  2. Have you, your OS, antivirus(, etc) deleted folders or their contents prior to this error?
  3. If no to 1 and 2, start a new thread.
  4. If yes to 1 and/or 2, check Photoshop's general preferences for the path that the history log points to.
    1. If you moved that folder/file, point it to the contents' new location.
    2. If you deleted the folder/file without transferring the contents, you may need to point it to an empty directory somewhere.
