Previously, I could create a selection, in this case a circle around an image. I invert and delete the inverted background. Then I invert again, create a border and fill it. I would get a nice clean colorful border around an image. Now, the border is feathered huge! How can I get a crisp border around a selection I make using the elliptical selection tool? How would I draw a perfect circle with the path tool?

»How would I draw a perfect circle with the path tool?«

Draw the Ellipse Tool with the shift-key pressed.

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible and the Elliptical Marquee Tool selected?

What is the Tool’s »Feather«-setting?

»I invert and delete the inverted background.«

Please consider using a Layer Mask instead of deleting.

»Then I invert again, create a border and fill it.«

Why not use the Layer Style »Stroke«?

You can get  great circle selection if you use the circle path tool and convert the path into a selection!

Or just use the Path as a Vector Mask.
