When I open Elements 2018 in Expert mode and drop images into it I can see a thumbnail of each image in a pane at the bottom of the window.

Is it possible to replicate this in CS6?

No, PS does not show thumbnails of images in a pane at the bottom of the window.

You could set up Adobe Bridge to run across the bottom and resize the PS window shorter so you see both applications as a workaround.

I forget when Mini Bridge (Flash based) was removed from PS. If it's still in your version of CS6, and if it works, you could use that panel at the bottom of your screen.
