Custom-Size 3D Rectangle With Editable Sides

New Here ,

Hi there.

I'm trying to create a custom 3D rectangle (a match box - full disclosure) and then apply designs to each of the 6 edges (front, back, 4 x sides). I have a sneaking suspicion this is one of those things that's going to seem so easy in hindsight, but for right now it's completely melting brain.

I started out by:

1_ Drawing a rectangle at the size I want for the front of the box

2_ 3D > New Extrusion from Selected Layer

Using the 'Extrusion Depth' I can create the exact size box that I'm after which is great.

And when I switch over to 'Layers' from '3D' there are two editable layers under Layer Name > Textures > Diffuse.

Unfortunately though, the 'Extrusion Material - Default Texture layer' is useless and there's also no layer for the back of the box.

So then I tried:

-3D > New Mesh From Layer > Mesh Preset > Cube

For a hot minute I thought this was the golden ticket!

In my 'Layers' view, each edge has its own editable layer which is exaclty what I'm looking for.

Only challenge is when I rescale the cube to the size that I'm after, the editable layers stay square and the ratios become impossible to work with.

If anyone out there followed by ramble and can help I would so appreciate.

Thanks!
