Delay closing files

Recently, Photoshop CC 2017 has started taking several seconds to close any file that I've just saved.  Several windows appear briefly which seem to be some of the history states, even though I don't save them.  I can live with this, but it gets annoying waiting for several seconds every time I close a file.

what are you using for your scratch dick? How full is your scratch disk and your operating system disk?

It's my ssd drive with 127gb of free space. This is my only drive
