I actually didn't really noticed until now but why does photoshop have three "open" option

I tried to do a little research and found out that open as means open as smart object ( not sure but that't what i read )

then why do we have open open as smart object???? if we already had open as???

Please help @-@

Open just opens the file

Open As - gives you the option to open using the decoder for a specific file format, useful if the file has the wrong extension

Open As Smart Object - opens the file and places the opened file in a smart object
