Someday I hope to see somebody write detailed instructions, step-by-step, without assuming anything except that the user has his PC turned on and can see the monitor. Actually, that is somewhat exaggerated. Most of the time when I am asking for "how to" it's because I have tried once or twice but cannot find the answer because the starting place has been assumed by the author. Unless one knows where one is on a path when one starts a journey it is not really possible to determine how one is going to follow that path. It is therefore, for one who is directing another along the path to ignore where on the path one to be directed is starting from
My simple question is: "is it possible to disable 3-D using Photoshop so that it does not reappear enabled without my deliberately enabling it. As best I can understand the directions given in the comments allow for temporary disabling but 3-D comes back without my deliberately re-engaging it. "Is it possible to disable 3-D until I personally choose to restore/enable it again? If so, please provide step by step instructions starting from an existing image having several layers one of which is text and I wish to use shift – enter to move to next line?"

Hi
What version of Photoshop are you using?
Can you explain what you mean when you say, "but 3-D comes back without my deliberately re-engaging it"?
There is a 3D menu, a 3D panel, and a Workspace that includes the 3D panel. Items in the panel and menu can be hidden, and workspaces can be deleted, but we need to know more about what you are asking to give you the best answer to your question.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, I had access to Photoshop CS 4. I was fortunate in that when I upgraded my platform to Windows10 I did not lose C S4 so that for years I’ve been pleasantly ignorant of and sheltered from the change in business models from sales of software to forced rental thereof that has taken over the industry. The capabilities of that software met all my needs. I have struggled to find my way through the maze of offerings in the “one size fits all” world of today’s Photoshop.
I have been able to avoid the hidden traps and pitfalls within the “new and improved” Photoshop’s “hotkeys” and key combinations that are particularly aggravating “improvements”. Specifically, Adobe's using the combination of space/enter that is now used to introduce a new 3-D layer when all I want to do is to start a new line in a text box is a never-ending annoyance. How do I make that go away? I do not want to have access to 3-D capability. I have never had any desire to produce anything in 3-D in all the years I can recall using Photoshop. And yet that key combination remains and I can find no way to disable it.
If you could tell me how to find the list of built in hot key combinations hidden in Photoshop Release 21.1.3 and how I can eliminate those that interfere with my work I would certainly be most appreciative
