The text input cursor is not visible in Photoshop CC File Info IPTC boxes when using dark mode on MacOS. This change happened around the Jan/Feb CC 2020 update and has not been fixed yet.

Still an issue when you set the Photoshop color theme to lightest shade. It was fixed in the case where macOS set to Dark Mode and Photoshop color them is set to one of the dark modes.

When I input text into any field in "File Info" there is no cursor shown. This started on the previous update and continues to be an issue in the most recent update. Macbook Pro MacOS Catalina 10.15.3  Photoshop 21.1.1

Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

I cannot reproduce the issue although I am also on Photoshop 21.1.1 and macOS 10.15.3.

Anything special? More than one monitor, …?

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Nothing special with setup. Just one monitor, MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015.

Turning off the graphics processor does not appear to solve the issue - after restarting Photoshop.

The cursor is at the position that is clicked, and data can be input into the field as normal, the cursor just isn’t visible. The issue began immediately after the release prior to 21.1.1, and continues.

Seems unlikely but have you tried restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved:

Just to be sure: You are aware that the dark color themes are wrong for print related work?

Also suffering with this issue of the disappearing cursor in IPTC input boxes. Needs fixed regardless of whether it is a PS problem or MacOS problem with dark mode. FYI it worked fine up until the Jan/Feb 20 CC update.

I am working with the latest Mac OS Big Sur 11.1 and with the latest Photoshop update.

When I want to fill in the File Info my cursos disappered. When I change the color of the interface to dark gray, the cursor in File Info returns.

The same in Bridge. Command I gives me the File Info screen, as in Photoshop, but no cursor. And when I change the interface color to Dark Gray the cursor returns.

Until now this bug isn't fixed. When will this happen??

My cursor is not showing up when I write meta data into a File Info.

I have to guess where it is. It's invisible.

I’m having the same problem, cursor has disapeared in File Info > Basic. It started early last year in 2020, but when I updated to newer version it went away. Sorry don’t have those version numbers. Now I have version 22.5 and it’s back to missing. I’m running macOS 10.15.7 in Dark Mode, switching to Light Mode made a difference for v21.2.9 but did not for v22.5.

I'm seeing the problem only if I set the Photoshop color theme to lightest shade. I have macOS set to Dark Mode.

Here's the cursor using Photoshop's dark color theme with macOS Dark Mode:

Thanks Jeffrey, that is what I'm seeing too, it is the Mid and Light gray Interface mode in Photoshop that are affected, when switching macOS between Light and Dark it has no effect. I looked at Photoshop version 21 and 22.5.1.

I no longer see a cursor when typing information into File Info. I'd been typing away normally and then suddenly realized it was gone. I can select letters, words, and spaces in gray to help me see where the cursor is supposed to be. And I can guess and add/deleted text by hoping I'm in the right place. But the cursor itself is invisible when I place it within the text. How do I get it back? I'm on a 24" iMac with M1 chip, Monterey OS, Photoshop 23.0.2 Release.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble experienced with the missing cursor. Since when are you noticing this? Would you mind updating Photoshop to version 23.1? When you are inserting the cursor you are unable to see it but if you type does it show on the same spot? Did you try re-installing the software? Can you attach a screenshot of the Text dialog box? We are here to help just need more info.

Thanks,

Ranjisha
