Effects not working on Null object in After Effects

Hi!

For some reason effects are not working on null objects anymore. I am new to After Effects so I am not sure if it is a real issue or just a button I hit by accident!

These effects were working recently, once they stopped working I updated to the newest version. Still didn't work. I have purged the cache and tried with the GPU both on and off. I was working on a very simple animation using only shape layers (the effects work on these types of layers) so the file was small by AE standards.

After I updated an error message appear about CEPHtml Helper but after effects opened normally but the problem remained.

I have a attached images of my workspace and specs. I am using a Mac, OS Catalina and After Effects is version 17.7.07 (build 45)

If anyone can help that would be great!
