How to edit a portion of text which is inside the selection area.

I want all the text inside a portion , say a circle to be editable such that I can change it to bold or change them with a different font or change its color.

Thanks

Hi!

You can create text inside a circle by doing the following:

1. Use the Ellipse tool (under the Shape tools) to create a circle shape.

2. With the Circle Shape still active (you should see the anchor points on the shape), select the Type tool. When you move the Type tool into the shape, you should see a small circle around the tool. Click inside the shape and paste the text you want to work with. You can then make whatever changes you want--the font, make it bold or italic, etc.  See below:

I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any quesitons.

You can only edit the text it you use the text tool and select the text. You can't change the text within a selection such as using the marquee tool.

Hello, as stated, the text changes are not controled by a selection, but by targeting the characters or a range of them.

That said, you can overlay another layer, ALT+click it between their names, and then locally change the colors of the top one, and its blending mode to color.

A destructive way to work would be to copy the text layer, hide one of the copies, and rasterize the other.

That way, the text becomes pixels, and it is possible to edit it, change its color, expand selection and fill to make it bolder...
