Eyedroper Chooses Same Grey Color Every Time

No matter where I click it changes to the same grey color.

I'm not on a mask layer.

I'm sampling all layers (I've even given sample current layer a try).

I am in RGB color mode.

I don't think I'm in quick mask mode.

Photoshop claims to have the latest version installed.

I've tried reseting my toolbar settings.

I can no longer think of any other solutions. Please Help!

What kind of layer is selected? Can you take a screenshot showing the Layers panel and the color picker up so we can see what you're working with?

Hello, a possible cause is that you could you be using View>Proof colors set to black plate? (shortcut: CTRL+Y(Pc)/CMD+Y(Mac))
