File freezing on path selection tool

While working with files, usually creating clipping paths or using the lasso tool, the file will freeze and the cursor will be stuck as the path selection tool. I am able to save, as well as open use the tools in another open file. I have to save, and reopen the file every single time. Working with a PSB file while this keeps happening is very frustrating since saving and reopenning is taking a lot of time and it's happening every 5 minutes.

Anyone else having these issues? Know of any fixes? This is happening both on my mac mini and mac book pro.

Try turning off your auto save recovery or increase it from 5 minute intervals.

It may not be locking up - but just taking a really long time to backup in the background depending on the size of you PSB.

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
