GPU Sniffer has crashed 22.1

Photoshop isn't seeing my GPU. I've updated everything; my drivers, photoshop, my OS. I've tried several solutions that I've found online and I still get the same issue. I've even tried installing an older version of Photoshop.

I've got a GTX 1050 that works fine with other software like After Effects.

Similar problem here. Incredibly aggrevating, been endless issues with photoshop for the past few months. Annoying for how much I pay to have access to the full suite. Here it is attempting to save a small DDS BC3 file.

Photoshop 2021 recently started crashing whenever I try to open the software, either by clicking on the App in my Applications folder or clicking on a RAW file with Photoshop set as the default app.

The crash logs show:

Updating from the Mac version of Photoshop v.22.3.0 to v.22.3.1 did not help.

I'm running Photoshop on a 27" iMac, 2020 model (iMac20,1) with an AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT GPU. MacOS 10.15.7, Catalina. Lightroom works as expected and shows my GPU as fully supported.

I have tried:

- deleteting the "Adobe Photoshop 2021 Settings" from my Library Preferences folder

- Booting in Safe Mode - Photoshop will launch, but runs very poorly. Performance Preference tab shows my GPU as "unknown"

- Running Disk First Aid - Photoshop launced normally 2 or 3 times, and recognizes my GPU But the next day, crashed again.

Does anybody have a successful solution?

I haven't found a solution running MacOS 10.15.7 and Mac Pro with AMD Radeon Pro W5700X. I reverted to Photoshop 2020 (v21.2.7) and will wait for Adobe to issue a fix for this problem.

I have never tried to revert to an earlier version. Does that cause any compications - either while running the older version, or when it comes time to update to the latest version?

It seems like everytime I update Photoshop/Lightroom, Adobe creates several new folders in my Applications Folder, and it's hard for me to tell which ones are old and can be deleted and which ones are in use. Also, what about plug-ins? Do plug-ins have to be reinstalled after every Adobe update?

Can you point to a resource that tells how to revert to an older version? Do you use the Creative Cloud application for that?

I'd suggest installing PS 2020 BEFORE unstalling PS 2021 just to make sure PS 2020 works well in your situation. You can use the Creative Cloud Desktop app to install PS 2020. To the right of each installed app, there's an option to install "Other versions". Next, I uninstalled PS 2021 using the uninstall app in the Photoshop 2021 folder. Once uninstalled, the uninstall app leaves behind your stuff (plugins, scripts, actions). You'll have to move those bits to the matching PS 2020 folders. For plugins, you may have to reinstall them. Thanks again for the tips!

If I thought it would be a matter of a few days before Adobe has a fix for making the latest version work properly, then I would be inclined to wait. But if it looks like it is going to be several weeks, then I'll want to revert. Thanks to your good advice, I'll know how to do it, if I take that route.
