I'm trying to run an action that I purchased and keep getting this error. "Can not use the gradient tool because the content of the layer is not directly editable."Other people have used this same action successfully, so I assume it is something off with my software?
I'm running it directly on a duplicated background layer. I've restarted my computer and re-installed the action...same error.

Hi there,

As I can see from the screenshot you are working on an adjustment layer and the Gradient Tool will not work on it. Try selecting the layer below the adjustment layer and see if it works.

Regards,
Sahil

Hi Sahil!

Thanks for responding...that's where the error pops up in the middle of running the action. When I play the action, it's on the background layer.

Hello r-bin, I was hoping you might be able to help again. I upgrade to an imac and am now having the same error pop up when running that action. The "Add Mask by Default" is already checked. Do you know why I would still be receiving this error??

Thanks!

Kristen

Did you solve the problem?
Is a mask present on the layer?
Is it active?

Here's the message I get:

And here are my adjustment settings:

Any help would be appreciated.
