Hello all,

I am at the very beginning stages of learning photoshop on my own and while following a tutorial on youtube, I noticed that my view was different from the instructors. I am in the process of refining a mask edge when he went to change the view in properties to on black (a). My screen did not change to black but it had the background instead. Please see the attached photo.

Any assistance would be helpful as I am still in the learning process. Thank you for your help in advance.

Just underneath the View dropdown menu is a slider called Opacity. Drag this to 100%.
