moon copy matched color convert to rgb.png

I'm trying to figure out what 3d effect to use in either photoshop or illustrator to make these three circles look like there orbiting the moon but also receding into space. I've tried some of the distortion tools, but they've made the spheres look too ovalular. I'm trying to making them look like they are wrapping around the planet (at least the one that's closest to it) and moving back in to space. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any tips!

I would try using a Blend in Illustrator.

Thank you for the tip. Is that possible to do on an embedded layer on Illustrator?
