I changed my photo to be greyscale. After adding a new layer, I tried to add a colored logo in the corner but it is changing it to black and white as well. How do I retain the colored logo on a new layer?
Short answer - Change the document back to RGB, whilst in greyscale everything will be shades of grey..
Longer answer - There was no need to change it to greyscale mode and back again. Instead, just add a black and white adjustment layer above your image layer(s) then add your coloured logo above that adjustment layer.

Thanks Dave....seems like an easy concept, I can't believe how much time I spent searching for an answer.
