how to clean up a PS file?

Hi there!

My current problem is this:

I have a file that, as a copy of itself is frequently in use as a template.

It has been there for quite some time now and occasionally gets updated.

Unfortunately, compaired to other files with the same amount of complexity (Artboards, Embeded SmartObjects, Layer count, Filesize,...) It has become quite voulatile to Photoshop crashing.

Especially recently Genarate > Image Assets will surely send PS into a state where it's not responsive anymore and needs to be forced to close through the Task Manager.

As I have mentioned, other, similar files work perfectly fine on this machine!

I have already tried to duplicate all layers into a new document, rebuilding the file that way.

Unfortunately it didn't help much.

So I would appreciate any suggestions on how to make this file "stable" again, without having to completly recreate it manually.

Thank You!
