I need to add a new background (single color) into a photo but am losing some of the hair around the head.  How to retrieve / recover it?

The images are to be considered as follows:  I am trying to use just the clouds as background behind the two people using layers and trying to reveal or cover but the hair of the person on the right looks too "round" without any flowing edges.  This looks too unnatural.

There are many methods which can be used to separate hair from a background. Could you post an example image so that people can give more specific suggestions.

If you have a few very tiny hairs then maybe your best choice is to paint them if you still want them for some reason. Everything depends on amount of hair you want to retrieve and old-new background. If backgrounds are very different then you will have more work to do. For more specific suggestion post sample as already suggested.

It would also be a good idea to use a mask, so that you can retrieve/delete parts of the image as you start perfecting it.
