How to import Photoshop general preferences

As stated in the first box under "Name & Description", General Settings Preferences are contained in the "Adobe Photoshop [version] Prefs.psp" file, but how can this file be imported into newer versions of PS when the file name doesn't match (since each new version has a different file name)?
