How to make portraits look like simple sketches?

Hey! I'm new to photoshop and trying to make a picture similar to picture 1 below look like picture 2 below. I've tried with this tutorial, but i'm not getting the pictures to look as simple and "sketchy" as they appear in picture 2. any tips/tuttorials you know of that can get this done?

To make it look as a line art, Try image trace option in adobe (illustrator)
