How to stop photoshop opening on a desktop window on Mac

Hi, when i open photoshop on mac it always opens on the desktop tab instead of opening on its own unique tab the same as every other application. Is there a way around this or a way to fix it

That's a function of Multiple Spaces and Mission Control on your Mac and not Photoshop itself. See this Help page from Apple:
