That should deselect the Selection, if one exists, and has nothing to do with the selected Tool.

But maybe I misunderstand, so please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible to clarify.

what do you really want?

 

Thank you for your screenshot.

But please describe a bit more in detail.

 

  • [Ctrl] + [D] should remove / deselect the selection (marching ants) - but leave the content as it is
  • [Backspace] should clear the contents of your active "Layer 2 copiar" layer within the active selection.

 

  • To choose a different tool, select it or use the correct shortcut for that tool.
