Which version of Photoshop and Windows version?

What is the error message?

Does this happen with all files or just this one?

Got the same issue! It happens with all my files since I updated to the newest version... But I found a way to not lose what I've done: turn off the visibility of all layers leaving only the background, then save. It can be annoying but work.
I had also a problem merging layers, it would be something like "can't complete the request due to program error" but after I turn off the "Enable Generator" (Edit>Preferences>Plugins) it worked!
Hopefully they will fix these problems soon...
