Image file not recognized?

I downloaded a picture from my website and Photoshop cannot recognize it, do I need to download additional software or change the image file extension?

Hi, you can put any extension by renaming the file or open it in photoshop it will open...regards

What is the problem:

1. your file does not have file extension,
2. file has wrong extension (how you get there if file is good for web) or
3. file has extension but it is corrupted and can not be recognized
