import new font to PS 2020

I have a MacBook Pro 2019 fully updated to Big Sur and Photoshop 2020.

I bought a font from creativemarketplace.com and can't get it to upload to my PS.  A friend with an older version of PS and Mac did it with no problem.

The extra glyphs and dingbats can't be accessed through my computer software or MS Office software--just the basic font. But if I can get the .otf to import/open in PS I'll be able to use everything, as my friend is doing.

"File>Open>.otf file" results in a greyed out file that can't be clicked.

I forgot to say--TTF does the same--greyed out, can't be clicked.
