Hi,
I have an issue since today.
I am on Photoshop CS3 (yes, it's old, but it works well), on a Mac Book Pro, and I want to save my cover book as a PDF for printing book.
But, it does not work, even though it worked few days ago. It tells me: "unable to save due to a program error".
So, do you have a solution for me ?
Thanks a lot.
Nadege.

Hello,
Sorry, yesterday, I did not see your answer. So...
- The file is 63,8 Mo
- How do I know if I work on 8, 16 or 32-bit ?
- it's for all the files. I tried with a 6,4 Mo file and it doesn't work either.

You could try downloading the trial version of Photoshop 19.1.6 and see if that would work.

Yes but I need Photoshop for all the time, not just a trial version (and it's too expansive for me).
I am a writer, I need to make my cover on Photoshop and save it as pdf 😞

You can try resetting your Photoshop Preferences:
Close Photoshop
Press and hold down Cmd-Opt-Shift and click on the Photoshop icon to launch the program.
You'll be asked to delete the settings file, agree to that and let Photoshop finish loading.
Then try Photoshop PDF again.

@gener7 : if I do that, isn't there a risk to lose all my Photoshop data, and that it won't work anymore? (sorry, i'm newbie)

Yes, you risk losing Photoshop. It is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to install CS3 any more so I suggest you don't mess with anything. No other Adobe software. Freeze your system. No updates. No internet connection.

You might consider the Photography Plan, it includes the latest version of Photoshop (2020) and upgrades as they become available and Lightroom plus some cloud storage and it costs around $10 a month.
Does the rest of your book consist mostly of images or text?

UPDATE :
I try a trial version of Photoshop.
It worked well until I made :
edit > color settings > CMYK > Custom CMYK > Total Ink Limit (I put it at 240% instead of 300%)
I try to undo and put it again at 300%, but it doesn't work.
Do you know how to remove this ?

Why are you converting your image to CMYK – keep to RGB color mode.
As I asked earlier, is this book mainly illustrated or mainly text based?

@Derek_Cross
I converting in CMYK because for printed book it's better (I can't explain you why, but I follow advices of printer and other authors independently published).
No, my book is not an illustrated book. It's a novel.

Hi
The advice you are reading is twenty years old. InDesign Secrets explains it here:

Creative Suite 1, 2 and 3 are officially dead. The activation servers are gone and support has ended. You use discontinued products at your own risk.
MODERN OPTIONS:
Photoshop Elements 2020 (approx $100, no subscription needed)
https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html
Creative Cloud Photography Plan (approx $10/month for 1 year subscription)
https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography.html
Creative Cloud All Apps Plan (31 + apps & services)
https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html
===========
Beware of fake Adobe reps who may contact you privately offering to sell you software or take control of your computer. It's a scam, run away! Creative Suite is no longer sold by legitimate vendors in any country.

Don't convert your cover to CMYK, keep it in RGB and select PDF/X-4 for the PDF for your printer, unless your printer is out-of-date and uses an earlier PDF spec.
Which application do you use to produce the text pages for your printer?

In fact, Derek, I don't use anything myself, I use online platforms (Ama**, Kob** and iBo***). They print my book.
Thank you for your advice. I will not use CMYK from now.
But, it doesn't help me to repare my CS3.
Is there no solution for it to save to pdf again?
