I'm currently learning PS from the included tutorials, one particular lesson calls to open the shape tool with the scizzor pic. I don't have anywhere near the amount of pictures on my program. How do I get all the shapes that I need?

The shape panel has changed, so the tutorial is most likely old. You need to load the Legacy shapes, buy opening the shape panel through the Windows menu, the use the flyout menu to load the Legacy shapes.
