My file IS NOT over 2GB!

Yet Photoshop tells me that it is and will not save as a .psd.  My file shows as only 950MB in the LLC of the PS window..  The dims are 9000 x 11000 pxls, 16 bit, with seven adjustment layers, mostly levels, sat and color correction.  I had to save it as a /psb and it was over 3 GB in the finder!  How can that be?  What else is PS doing to make it so big?

How many layers, How many are smart object layers. 16bit vs 8bit double the pixels data 99MP canvas size Un compressed a layer can require 594,000,000 bytes of pixel data 7 adjustment layers are  all on a single image layer any masking involved.  A 99mp canvas size can pile up date even Adjustment Layers Layek mask can increase file size a single 99MP  channel can be 200MB times 7=1.4GB sill uncompressed that is only like 2GB do you set PSD and PSB compressing off in your preferences?
