Need activation

I spilled water on the keyboard of my laptop and it's won't start, I got a replacement but cannot activate the product because the program was not deactivated.

What do I need to do?

Well, it is the weekend now. But Photoshop 6.0 doesn't need activation. Do you mean Photoshop CS6?

Did you check your private messages (in the forum NOT your mailbox? The Adobe Staff member you heard from said he sent you something.

Sorry, cs6.  There was no private message with any info. That's why I'm confused.

I tried to load it this morning and got a counterfeit software warning

That is most likely the end of it, unless you can demonstrate you purchased it from Adobe or an approved reseller. There has been an amazing amount of fake product, and Adobe are still finding more and more of it.
