The enhanced feature does not open jpegs.. does work with raw file (NEF).

There are two options in the Enhance feature: Raw Details and Super Resolution. Raw Details works only with raw files (as the name implies), but Super Resolution works with non-raw files. But you must change some settings to let Camera Raw open non-raw files, such as:

• Allowing non-raw files to be opened by changing the File Handling preferences for Camera Raw, so that JPEG files can be opened by Camera Raw through Photoshop or Adobe Bridge. 
• Opening a JPEG through the File > Open command in Photoshop while overriding the Format setting to Camera Raw.
