Hi,

In past I have made this partial gradient. Red is backgroundcolor, gray is gradient.

AdobeTest.jpg

However I have forgotten how to do this.

The steps I remember are.

1) make rectangle selection

2) select the gray layer

3) choice from toolbar > gradient

4) draw "line" with gradient tool left-right in selectionbox

.........now I have a partial gradient

.........but how I get those pattern-gradient (in width of selectionbox)

What does it say in your Options bar when the Gradient tool is selected?

What happens if you Reset the Gradient tool by right-clicking it in the Options bar and choosing Reset?

Thanks for suggestion-light.

I find out that MODUS but set to "spread"... BEFORE making the gradient.

When a gradient is already made... no modifications are possible ???? is that correct?

It looks like the gradient went from gray to transparent, and you used the dissolve blend mode.

Best to make a new gradient with the proper options in the options bar.

Solved.>>... Jane-e wrote: "What does it say in your Options bar when the Gradient tool is selected?"

that gave me a hint. It was set to NORMAL in stead of SPREAD. It was different between 2 user accounts.

Also important: set settings before make a gradient.

One more hint for you, Fred: since you like these settings, you can save it as a preset for easy retrieval later.
