First of all I have searched this community and the Internet for this issue and cant find a solutuon.

I am a long time user of PS so have much experience but this one beats me. I am using OSX 10.13.6 and running an Epson p9000 and a Pro 3880 printers. I make my own .icc profiles with X-Rite Pro2 and use a number of different media.

I built a new profile and went ot install it in the color sync, in both locations i.e Finder/Library/Color Sync and User/Library/Color Sync, however the profile does not show up in PS or LR.

I also use a programme called Color Think and it shows up in the System Folder in this programm, but no show in PS or LR. I have tried reinstalling PS and LR. There are a number of older profiles which I have installed previously and they are there, but the new profile will not show. I dont print from the latter I use Mirage and can install the profile no problem in this programme, however I use PS to "soft-proof" and cannot get it to show.

One point I have updated PS & LR several times since I last uploaded a new profile, hence the older ones are showing OK.

Hi

Do they show up in Photoshop's edit/color settings

I would suggest you take a look at one of your profiles in the Colorthink app. and check both "external" (file name) and "internal" names for your profiles. Photoshop shows the "internal" name and this often causes confusion.

It will help you see the profiles in Photoshop if both those names are the same. Colorthink's Profile Renamer can achieve that.

Also, does colorsync show any errors in the profiles? If so maybe use the Colorthin

A thought - the profiles, in Photoshop's proofing and printing dialogues, show up with their internal profile name rather than the filename on disk. As the two names can be different are you looking for the right profile in the list?

(I am a Windows user not Mac so can't comment on the locations)

Also, does colorsync show any errors in the profiles? If so maybe use the Colorthink Profile Medic to fix them?

Make sure you fix [and rename] all instances, if you've placed them in multiple locations.

The easiest way to update Photoshop's ICC profile lists is to quit and restart it.

Opening edit / color settings updates the lists too.

I hope this helps

if so, please "like" my reply and if you're OK now, please mark it as "correct", so that others who have similar issues can see the solution

Hi Neil, Well that is something I've learned. I must admit I have never encounted this problem before and did not realise that these names can be different. Also did not know about the renaming in Color Think because I've never had to use it, however this was the problem so issue SOLVED

Thank you

Peter

Hi

I'm coming to this late so may not get a response... I've just downloaded and installed 2 profiles from Hahnemule for two of their papers for a HPz320 printer. Once in Photoshop cc 202 on  mac using Catalina 10.15.5 I cannot see the profiles and just checked in with Colorthink and their app doesnt work yet with Catalina and they suggest using Colorthink Pro but its mighty expensive. It may well be that I'm doing something basic in Photoshop which means the profiles aren't showing but as this seems quite a common issue I wonder if someone more experienced might be able to help. It could be the profiles are there in a very different name but I can't find them. Many thanks and apologies if this thread is past its sell by date.
