Photoshop 2021 tools freezing on macOS 10.15.7

My PS 2021 is freezing up from time to time and has for some time - earlier versions too.  My selection tool becomes an artboard tool and won't change back.  My brush tool becomes a pencil and won't change back.  Saving a file to a new name gets me Arabic ( I presume) characters.   It crashed during a show and tell I was doing on Zoom yesterday.  I've had it.

I'm wondering if my Wacom Intuos PT S is kicking PS to the curb.  I have to reboot the iMac to bring it back.   I'm running Catalina 10.15.7 - it did this on the previous version too, with 64 Gig of RAM.

What else do I need to tell you?   Does anyone have an idea of what's going on?

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop. Please ensure you have the latest version of Photoshop installed on the computer along with the latest Wacom drivers. Do you experience the same behavior with the a mouse & the Wacom tablet disconnected?

Please go to the System Preferences for your Mac, then Security and Privacy, then select the Privacy tab. Then select Accessibility from the list to the left & check if Photoshop & the Wacom drivers are added to the list with a check mark in front of them. If not, please add them by unlocking the window first using the lock at the bottom left, then clicking the + icon & navigating to the Applications folder. Also, grant permissions to Photoshop under Full disk access located in the same list as Accessibility. Once done, restart the Mac & check if it helps.

If the issue persists, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/2Qzc0K3

Please backup your settings prior to resetting the preferences. You can check: https://adobe.ly/2vNz6FG

To check out the recommended settings for your Wacom tablet with Photoshop, please check: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/tablet-support-faq-photoshop.html

Let us know how it goes!

Regards,

Nikunj
