Photoshop 22.3.1 freezes when using the Crop Tool

As per title, app freezes when trying to use crop tool. Looking through the forum, it appears that it is a well known fault but the advice given to others doesn't work for me, ie "turn on graphics card". Whether it's turned on or off, the app still crash's, anymore advice I can try? Thanks in advance.

Just to make sure: You did restart Photoshop each time after changing the setting?

restarted PS, restarted PC, all to no avail.

Same issue, frustrating to have to make changes to settings; restart; install legacy tools; run back here for answers, etc. versus getting work done. Just test before these constant updates.
