Three days ago I noticed the crop tool in Photoshop was not working properly. When I input it the dimension  and resolution it would default to pixels rather than inch/cm. No matter what I tried it would size down to pixels. Then I noticed my photos were merging into tabs even though tab was unchecked in preferences. I called Adobe and was on the phone with a tech for nearly an hour with no solution. Next day I called again and spoke to a very confident guy who after 10 minutes of taking over my computer determined PS was corrupet. He told me a high level specialist would call me soon......still waiting. Any help would be appreciate it.

Reset preferences. There's a button to "reset preferences on quit" under Preferences > General.

The preferences file contains everything related to app configuration; not just your own preferences. It is prone to corruption because it is resaved and overwritten on every application exit - as opposed to program files that are read-only. So errors tend to accumulate.

The second Adobe tech did just that without success. I just performed the task just now without any success.
