I am using MacBook pro-2017, and PS started crashing on my Catalina OS, so I updated both
PS to v 22.4.1 and Mac OS BigSur 11.3.1

PS is still crashing all the time. Right after I start the PS, it opens the starting window, and then it is not responding anymore.

This is so frustrating, any suggestions. Please SOS.

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble while trying to launch Photoshop. Would you mind telling us at what point does Photoshop freeze? It would be helpful if you could share a screenshot of the screen/window Photoshop freezes on.

Please ensure Photoshop has the necesary permissions by following the steps mentioned below:

1. Go to the System Preferences for your Mac, then Security and Privacy, then select the Privacy tab.

2. Then select Accessibility from the list to the left & check if Photoshop is added to the list with a check mark in front of it.

3. If Photoshop is not a part of the list, please add it by unlocking the window first using the lock at the bottom left, then clicking the + icon & navigating to the Applications folder.

4. Also, grant permissions to Photoshop under Full disk access located in the same list as Accessibility.

5. Once done, restart the Mac & check if it helps.

If the issue persists, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/2Qzc0K3

Please backup your settings prior to resetting the preferences. You can check: https://adobe.ly/2vNz6FG

Let us know how it goes!

Regards,

Nikunj

Hey Nikunj,

unfortunately, I already tried with permissions you've mentioned and did not help.

I tried with the new mac user account and in the new account, Photoshop works just fine! So it is a kind of solution.

But now I am afraid that with merging my accounts Photoshop will be freezing again. Any ideas? I need my files and stuff from my active account, obviously.

Regards,

Katja

What that indicates is a 'conflict' with something in the other account. It isn't PS per se. How you trace that down is difficult.

What if you attempt to restart in Safe Mode into the original account? Hold down the shift key at boot. Does PS still crash? If not, that narrows down some possibilities.

You may want to run something like Onyx (free) to see if there's something amiss:
