Photoshop brush solid-only (no hardness preview)

Hello,

I need help with my Photoshop. For unknown reason, brush outline is always 100% hard, even when I choose soft brushes. (pic enclosed) I tried to reset the brush, reinstall PS, etc. It is very annoying, since I never see brush hardness preview when I change the size of the brush. Any workorounds?
