»Photoshop continues to crash my OS requiring a reboot«

No, it does not.

Photoshop can make the demands on another component (drivers, hardware, …) that reveal a flaw in those that causes the OS to crash but Photoshop does not crash the OS.

This distinction may seem academic but it is relevant here.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Wow, thank you for that helpful clarification. While I realize that the software may not be at fault, the fact is that when I run Photoshop, and only Photoshop, my system crashes. This is a difficult problem to trouble shoot since crashes don't seem to related to a single action, i.e., occur at different times after startup and with different tasks.

Since I didn't seem to be getting much in way of suggestions (and yes, I had already unchecked the option to use the Graphics Processor), I decided to review my system memory, disk usuage, etc. Limited memory may be the problem. I went from 8 to 32 GB and noted that App Memory is not running at 15 GB! Almost twice what I had onboard prior. While I can't be sure this will fix the issue, increasing the memory was a key piece of improving performance at least. It remains to be seen if this is the only fix I need.
