Can you be more precise on your Setup? Hardware/Software/OS? -> Does this happen in ALL files or just a certain type?
(e.g. CMYK/RGB, Resolution, 8/16bit, TIFF/PSD).
I recommend to reset Photoshop and see if the issue is gone…

Yes, this is still happening every time. Open a new photoshop file, add any shape, change the color to gradient and add another color to the gradient, then try to change the gradient rotation.
This only happens on my Windows PC machine, on my MacBook, this doesn't happen.

If anyone has still the problem: which color picker is selected in the preferences/General ?
Which troubleshooting steps have been done? reset the tool with a right-click in its icon on the option bar?
One can also try to deactivate the native canvas in the preferences, then restart.
Maybe Try to restore your preferences to the default using this manual method:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually it lets you keep a copy on the desktop that you can use to revert the process if it did not change the problem.

Photoshop 2023. First launch causes shutdown after gradient setting. Next launches work nice. Repeat every reboot.

Thanks for reporting this. Which Ps version are you on (e.g. 25.1.0)? Mac or Windows? And what is the set of steps you're using to choose a gradient - are you using the gradient tool, or the gradient preset panel, or something else?
